I was noodling around the web the other day and happened to stop by one of my favorite websites; Daz3D. While I was looking through the new toys they had (finally a Bryce upgrade!) I noticed that they had an upgrade for Hexagon 2.0 to 2.5. The neat thing about this upgrade is that included sculptys. Yes, you heard right! Sculptys!
I upgraded my account to premium and bought a copy of that and my upgrade to Bryce 7.0 Pro. Downloading seemed like it took for ever,(ok...only a few minutes but still!) but when I finally got it, I installed that puppy as fast as I could. I opened it up the second that install was, all I could think was “wow”.
it isn’t that hard to figure out how to use, but then I have been using Blender, so I guess after that one anything would be easy to use. Hexagon has a tab called Second Life that has the available prims to model on.
I am still learning how to use it but I will be posing updates on my progress. If you are interested in seeing what any of the Daz products can do, head on over to their island at: Daz Island and see for yourself what their products can do in InWorldz or Second Life. Personally, as a user of their products since Bryce was 2.0 (ok...MetaCreations then to Daz now) I have been pleased with not only the price but the functionality of their products.
Tutorials are listed in their forums and can be found here: Daz Forum
I haven’t had as much time lately as I would like to play with it....but what I have done is impressive. I liek that I can pain textures on my sculpty right inside the program, or if I want, I can make UV textures like in Blender and port them over to photoshop and make my textures there. The possibilities are endless and I look forward to getting to know this program well. When time permits, I will be working in Hexagon and I hope to post some tutorials up here soon.
Well, got some homework to do then Hexagon to play with...TTYL!
